About

Lauren Zorfas is a Belmont, California, founding partner, retired Court Commissioner, private judge, mediator, arbitrator, settlement officer, special master, neutral evaluator, and parent coordinator. She leads alternative dispute resolution work and assists clients in family law matters involving dissolution, legal separation, child custody, visitation, support, domestic violence, prenuptial agreements, postnuptial agreements, mediation, advice and counsel, and limited scope representation. Her work draws on judicial, litigation, and mediation experience.

Zorfas earned a J.D. with honors from San Francisco Law School in 1999 and was named valedictorian of her class. Her legal education supports a practice grounded in careful analysis, clear communication, dispute resolution, and courtroom understanding. That training helps her evaluate family law issues, guide mediation discussions, and support clients or parties in matters that require practical judgment, organized preparation, and attention to sensitive family concerns.

Zorfas previously served as a Court Commissioner with the San Mateo Superior Court, where she presided over child support, domestic violence, general family law, and criminal law matters. She also served as Judge Pro Tem and managed her own law office before founding her current practice. Her public service includes leadership with the Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County and supervision of the family law facilitator and self-help services.

Lauren Zorfas has received recognition from Super Lawyers and honors, including the William Nagel Award, Commitment to the Goals of the Barristers Award, and Fatherhood Advocate of the Year Award. She has served on legal, domestic violence, foster care, and family law advisory groups. Zorfas helps clients, attorneys, and families address difficult disputes through mediation, private judging, settlement work, and practical legal guidance.
