Lauren M. Wilhelm, Esq., is a skilled immigration attorney with extensive experience in asylum, withholding of removal, and complex litigation involving criminal convictions and their immigration consequences. She has worked across multiple sectors of immigration law, including federal courts and nonprofit legal services, bringing a well-rounded perspective to each client’s case. A commitment to due process, human rights, and client-centered advocacy guides her work.
Lauren earned her J.D. from the University of Maryland Carey School of Law, where she served on the executive boards of the Immigration Law and Policy Association and the Maryland Public Interest Law Project. She was a student attorney with the UM Carey Immigration Clinic (now Chacón Center for Justice) and volunteered with the Southern Poverty Law Center Immigrant Justice Group. Lauren also holds a B.A. in Government and Politics with a minor in Rhetorical Discourse from the University of Maryland, College Park, where she focused her studies on international migration and human rights.
Lauren M. Wilhelm began her legal career in the Department of Justice Honors Program, clerking at the New York Broadway Immigration Court and later serving as an Attorney Advisor at the Baltimore Immigration Court. She provided legal guidance to immigration judges and drafted decisions in a wide range of cases involving asylum, CAT, bond proceedings, adjustment of status, and waivers. She later joined Kids in Need of Defense (KIND) as a staff attorney, representing unaccompanied minors in removal defense and humanitarian relief applications.
