About

Lauren C. Greer is a Partner in GHSM’s Atlanta office, where she focuses her practice on education law with a special concentration on charter schools. She advises schools on governance, employment, compliance, discipline, funding, and operational matters, helping educational organizations make informed decisions and maintain strong institutional practices.

Greer earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Georgia and her Juris Doctorate from the University of Mississippi. Her academic background supports her understanding of law, public policy, government operations, and education systems, giving her a strong foundation for counseling schools and education-focused clients. Before joining GHSM in July 2022, Greer served as of counsel at McGuireWoods LLP and as Vice President of State Government Affairs with McGuireWoods Consulting. In those roles, she developed her legal education practice while assisting clients with lobbying, government affairs strategy, and multi-state policy monitoring.

Greer’s career began with the Georgia General Assembly, where she drafted legislation in the Office of Legislative Counsel and worked as an analyst in Senate budget and research offices. She helped evaluate public funding issues, support legislative committees, and prepare recommendations involving state agencies and education policy. As a senior policy analyst in the Senate Research Office, she provided non-partisan research, legislative tracking, and policy support to Georgia senators and committees. She worked closely on issues related to charter schools, school improvement, accountability, flexibility, retirement, and K-12 funding, including recommendations that lawmakers later enacted.

Lauren C. Greer also served as a policy analyst with the Council of State Governments’ Southern Legislative Conference. There, she supported policy committees, prepared research on regional trends, oversaw continuing legal education programs, and assisted elected officials across 15 southern states with legislative and policy-related matters. Through her combined legal, policy, and government affairs experience, she helps schools address complex challenges with practical guidance. Her work supports boards, administrators, and education leaders as they navigate compliance requirements, operational decisions, employment concerns, student issues, and funding questions that affect schools and the communities they serve.
