Larry R. Williams

Larry R. Williams is the founding attorney and of counsel at The Williams Firm in Nashville, Tennessee. He built a practice involving personal injury, automobile accidents, Social Security disability, business law, probate, and real estate. After more than four decades in private practice, he no longer personally handles cases. Instead, he assists the firm’s attorneys with strategy, preparation, negotiation, and legal questions informed by his extensive courtroom experience.

Larry earned a B.S. from Middle Tennessee State University and a J.D. from Nashville School of Law in 1974. He attended law school while working as an elementary school teacher. Later, he returned to Nashville School of Law as an instructor, teaching Local Government and Evidence for 22 years. He is an emeritus faculty member, and the school honored him with a Distinguished Alumni award in 2017.

Larry’s practice developed through work on injury claims and a range of other civil matters. He has experience with trial preparation, negotiations, and questions that arise during serious vehicle accident litigation. Although he is no longer responsible for his own caseload, he helps other lawyers at the firm assess arguments, prepare for hearings, and evaluate the legal issues affecting clients’ cases. His role today is primarily advisory.

Larry R. Williams is a former first vice president of the Nashville Bar Association’s board of directors and has been involved with Tennessee trial lawyer organizations. He held Civil Trial Specialist certification from the National Board of Trial Advocacy between 1996 and 2006. His teaching career and litigation background continue to inform his counsel to the firm’s lawyers, particularly in evidence, courtroom preparation, and negotiation strategy.
