Kristen M. Shannon is an experienced Virginia attorney whose practice focuses on family law, criminal defense, traffic and DUI cases, and estate planning. Recognized for her professional excellence, she was selected as a Virginia Super Lawyer under the Family Law category in 2024 and again named a Super Lawyer in 2025. Her practice serves clients throughout Chesapeake, Virginia Beach, and the Hampton Roads region.
Kristen earned her Juris Doctor from Regent University School of Law in 2005, where she held multiple student leadership roles, including Student Body President, and participated in trial advocacy programs. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice, cum laude, from Marshall University in 2001. She is admitted to practice law in both Virginia and Florida.
Kristen began her legal career as a state prosecuting attorney, an experience that continues to shape her strategic and courtroom-focused approach to litigation. She handles criminal defense matters with an emphasis on protecting clients’ rights, while also devoting a significant portion of her practice to divorce and family law. Her work in estate planning further allows her to help individuals and families plan for the future with confidence and clarity.
Kristen is actively involved in the legal and civic community. She is a past President of the Chesapeake Bar Association and has served on its Executive Board. She is also a member of the Virginia Bar Association, serves on local boards and committees, and regularly participates in professional education and community initiatives.
