About
Kirsten Nelson is a Miami trial attorney at The Baez Law Firm whose practice includes criminal defense and commercial litigation. She handles complex federal cases, including fraud allegations and other white-collar matters, and brings substantial experience with felony trials and appellate proceedings. She has represented clients at stages ranging from detention hearings through sentencing and post-conviction proceedings, as well as participating in major commercial and criminal trial teams.
Kirsten earned her J.D. with High Honors from The George Washington University School of Law. She later clerked for Judge Thomas C. Wheeler of the United States Court of Federal Claims. Kirsten spent five years as an Assistant Federal Public Defender and Training Attorney in the Southern District of Florida, representing more than 200 clients. She served as trial counsel in felony jury trials and obtained acquittals on counts carrying mandatory minimum sentences. Her work includes white-collar fraud cases alleging losses above $100 million, as well as litigation involving claimed losses exceeding $150 million and appellate matters of first impression.
Kirsten Nelson previously worked on litigation teams at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, Wilkinson Stekloff LLP, and Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP. She prepared executives and expert witnesses for depositions and trials and participated in complex commercial and criminal disputes.
