Kimberly Greene is a seasoned criminal defense attorney and Deputy Public Defender with the Los Angeles County Public Defender’s Office, one of the largest public defender agencies in the nation. With nearly two decades of experience representing individuals charged with serious criminal offenses, she has built a reputation for skillful advocacy, courtroom poise, and a deep commitment to upholding constitutional rights for her clients.
Greene was admitted to the State Bar of California in June 2007 and shortly thereafter began her longstanding career with the Los Angeles County Public Defender’s Office, where she has dedicated herself to defending her clients in a wide range of criminal matters. In her role, she handles complex litigation in California’s state courts, providing vigorous defense representation and protecting clients’ rights at all stages of the criminal justice process.
A graduate of Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, Greene combines legal skill with practical courtroom experience, having represented clients in numerous felony and serious misdemeanor cases throughout her career. Prior to law school, she earned a Bachelor of Business Administration and Political Science from the University of Miami.
Greene gained national attention in 2026 when she was appointed to represent Nick Reiner, the son of acclaimed filmmaker Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner, after his private defense attorney, Alan Jackson, withdrew from a highly publicized double-murder case. In February 2026, she entered a not guilty plea on Reiner’s behalf at his arraignment in Los Angeles County Superior Court, a high-profile proceeding that attracted extensive media coverage due to the severity of the charges and the prominence of the family involved.
Her assignment to this case highlighted Greene’s experience and the crucial role of public defenders in the American legal system, particularly in managing complex, sensitive matters under intense public scrutiny. Throughout her tenure, she has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to ensuring that all defendants receive diligent representation and a fair legal process, regardless of circumstance.
