Kevin T. Streit

Kevin T. Streit is a Virginia civil litigation attorney and partner with more than 25 years of experience representing the insurance industry. He focuses on property and casualty insurance coverage disputes involving major property losses and complex commercial or personal-lines claims. His practice includes litigation in state and federal courts, nationwide coverage opinions, insurance defense, and selected commercial disputes. He helps insurers evaluate policy obligations, protect contractual rights, and respond to significant claims.

Streit earned his J.D. from the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at the College of William and Mary. He received his B.A. from the College of William and Mary and an M.A. from the University of Toronto. Before entering law, he pursued doctoral studies in medieval history at the University of Washington and passed his doctoral examinations. His academic training strengthened the research, writing, and analytical skills supporting his coverage and litigation practice.

Streit has litigated insurance coverage disputes throughout Virginia and West Virginia and served as lead counsel in matters across several additional states. He has defended insured clients in varied disputes and represented commercial clients in complex business litigation. His experience includes participating in a trial team that secured a defense judgment in a multimillion-dollar contract case while obtaining a $2 million judgment on the defendant’s counterclaims. His work spans property, casualty, contract, and liability issues.

Kevin T. Streit co-chairs an insurance coverage practice and has led the Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys’ coverage section. He regularly presents seminars on insurance law and has published articles addressing the duty to defend, casualty claims, theft losses, and insurers’ rights. He is admitted in Virginia and West Virginia, numerous federal courts, two federal appellate courts, and the US Supreme Court. His practice reflects detailed policy analysis, extensive litigation experience, and practical guidance for insurers.
