David L. Vicevich

David L. Vicevich is the founder of Vicevich Law and a business lawyer based in Butte and Helena, Montana. He represents individuals and organizations in business, civil litigation, land use, zoning, environmental, mining, appellate, and regulatory matters. His practice also includes cyber insurance, e-commerce, data breach response, arbitration, mediation, and international legal issues. He has handled thousands of cases across Montana and Washington courts and administrative forums.

David earned honors undergraduate degrees in history, philosophy, and political science from Gonzaga University. He participated in Gonzaga’s honors and debate programs and joined Alpha Sigma Nu, the National Jesuit Honor Society. He received his Juris Doctor from Washington University in St. Louis in 1999. In 2018, he earned a Master of Laws in Cyber, Telecommunications, and Space Law from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. His thesis examined cyber insurance.

David began gaining courtroom experience through prosecutorial internships during law school. He returned to Butte in 1999 and established his own firm by 2001. His early work included complex, high-profile litigation and a homicide defense completed before he turned thirty. He later became a founding partner of Joseph, Vicevich & Whelan, PLLC in 2003. In 2012, he formed Vicevich Law and expanded his practice into Washington.

David L. Vicevich is licensed in Montana’s state and federal courts, Washington state courts, and the United States Tax Court. His broad background helps him address business disputes, regulatory concerns, land use matters, and technology-related risks from several legal perspectives. He combines extensive litigation experience with modern technology and practical client communication. His work supports businesses and individuals facing complicated legal, commercial, and administrative challenges.
