Kevin Prue

Kevin Prue focuses his legal work on DWI defense and criminal defense, bringing strong knowledge of Hudson Valley criminal law practices to clients facing serious charges. Kevin earned his undergraduate degree from Marist College in 2007. He earned his law degree from Charlotte School of Law in Charlotte, NC, in 2014. This education gave him a solid foundation for courtroom work, legal research, and client-focused representation in criminal cases involving complex facts and serious legal consequences.

Kevin built much of his legal career in public defense, where he represented people who could not afford private counsel. In 2017, he joined the Dutchess County Public Defender’s Office and initially served as a conflict defender in Ulster County, gaining direct experience with criminal matters and client advocacy daily.

Kevin later advanced in 2023 to become the Supervising Attorney of the Criminal Unit at the Legal Aid Society of Putnam County. In that role, he managed attorneys while handling complex felony cases, showing both leadership and the ability to guide serious defense matters with focus, patience, and steady care.

Kevin has more than a decade of criminal defense experience and has developed specialized skills in DWI defense. His membership in the National College of DUI Defense and his role as an NHTSA SFST Instructor reflect his focus on understanding the evidence, procedures, and testing issues involved in DWI cases.

Kevin has helped clients by working to ensure that their side of the story is heard and that their rights are respected. His background in public service, including service in the U.S. Navy, supports a disciplined approach to legal work and a strong commitment to fair, thorough representation for clients.
