Kevin Laurence, Esq., is a nationally recognized patent attorney with over 30 years of experience in post-grant proceedings and intellectual property law. He represents clients in inter partes review (IPR), post-grant review (PGR), and reexaminations before the USPTO’s Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), with a focus on protecting innovation across industries.
Kevin earned his Juris Doctor from J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University in 1992, followed by a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from the same university in 1989. His legal and scientific education enables him to serve clients in complex patent matters across biotech, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, software, and more.
Kevin has been recognized by IAM Patent 1000, Best Lawyers in America, Managing Intellectual Property, and Chambers USA. In 2016, he was named “Lawyer of the Year” in patent law for Washington, D.C., by Best Lawyers in America. He also co-authored a two-volume treatise on post-grant patent practice and contributed to over 50 articles on patent law.
Kevin has taught post-grant proceedings as an adjunct professor at George Washington University Law School since 2015 and served as an instructor for Patent Resources Group for a decade. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, Federal Circuit, USPTO, D.C. Bar, and Utah State Bar.
Kevin Laurence also provides patent procurement, portfolio management, and litigation support. He has held leadership roles in the PTAB Bar Association and the Intellectual Property Owners Association, where he helped shape policy and practice in post-grant law.
