Kevin D. Rising

Kevin D. Rising is a partner at Barnes & Thornburg and serves as the firm’s Los Angeles and Salt Lake City managing partner. He co-chairs the Commercial Litigation and Consumer Class Action Defense practices. His clients include Fortune 500 companies, large privately held enterprises, and high-net-worth individuals. His work spans consumer class actions, product liability, toxic torts, employment litigation, multidistrict litigation, contract disputes, fiduciary claims, and business torts.

Kevin earned a J.D. from UCLA School of Law and a B.A. from the University of California, Irvine. During law school, he participated on the National Moot Court team and received an award for excellence in preparation for trial practice from the American Board of Trial Advocates. His legal education supports a trial practice involving complex records, expert testimony, statutory and contractual issues, and disputes that can span several industries and jurisdictions.

Kevin has served as lead trial counsel and national counsel in significant matters in state and federal courts. His experience includes clients in hospitality, healthcare, manufacturing, financial services, technology and telecommunications, consumer products, retail, and chemical industries. He has handled a product liability jury trial involving an amusement park operator, an SEC enforcement action involving a software executive, and other significant commercial disputes.

His practice covers individual business disputes as well as large-scale class and multidistrict matters, requiring coordination of litigation strategy across different claims and jurisdictions.
