About

Kevin A. Keeling is a Houston intellectual property attorney and registered patent attorney who handles patent rights, trademarks, trade secrets, technology contracts, and related commercial litigation. He advises businesses on protecting inventions, negotiating licenses, and resolving disputes involving intellectual property and business agreements. His practice includes transactions before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and court disputes concerning commercial and technical matters. Kevin draws on engineering education and military nuclear power training when addressing technology-intensive legal problems.

Kevin earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology, with a nuclear emphasis, cum laude from Old Dominion University in 1999. He received his Juris Doctor from Villanova University School of Law in 2003. Before and during his undergraduate studies, he completed Navy Nuclear Power training, finishing in the top ten percent of his class, and received hands-on nuclear reactor training. This technical foundation supports his analysis of engineering concepts, invention disclosures, and technology disputes.

Kevin served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Harry S Truman, working with electrical and nuclear-related systems. After law school, he practiced at intellectual property firms and later served as a senior assistant city attorney in Houston, handling technology contracts and licensing for city departments. His client work has involved oil and gas, communications, medical devices, pharmaceutical products, transportation, and industrial inspection technologies. He also advises on patent prosecution, trade secret issues, noncompetition disputes, and licensing agreements.

Kevin became registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office in 2002. He received Pennsylvania Rising Stars recognition in 2005 and 2006 and Texas Rising Stars recognition in 2013. His professional associations include the American Intellectual Property Law Association and the Houston Intellectual Property Law Association. He is admitted to practice in Texas and Pennsylvania, as well as several federal courts. Kevin A. Keeling combines technical training, public-sector legal service, and commercial intellectual property litigation experience in representing businesses and inventors.
