About
Kenneth S. Byrd is a partner in the Nashville office of Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein, LLP and an experienced trial attorney. He represents clients in consumer law, mass tort, and defective product litigation. He also represents consumers in class actions and individuals and families in personal injury and wrongful death cases nationwide. His trial work includes major litigation against tobacco companies and other large corporations.
Kenneth earned his B.S., cum laude, in Mathematics from Samford University, with a minor in Journalism. He later received his J.D., cum laude, from Boston College Law School. During law school, he served as president of the Law Student Association and competed on the National Moot Court Team. He was admitted to the Tennessee Bar in 2004 and is admitted before several federal courts.
Kenneth has obtained substantial jury verdicts in complex litigation, including separate $27 million and $41 million verdicts against tobacco companies that were upheld on appeal. His experience includes leadership roles in multidistrict litigation involving 3M Combat Arms earplugs and the AME Church Employee Retirement Fund. He also works with the firm’s Whistleblower and False Claims Act practice, representing individuals seeking to expose fraud involving government programs and contracts.
Kenneth S. Byrd received the Tennessee Association for Justice’s Paladin Award in 2015 for his tobacco litigation work. His recognition includes Best Lawyers in America for consumer protection, personal injury, and product liability litigation. He has also been recognized among Lawdragon’s Leading Plaintiff Consumer Lawyers. He belongs to several professional organizations, including the American Bar Association, Nashville Bar Association, Tennessee Bar Association, and Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association.
