Kelli Fernandez-Medina

Kelli Fernandez-Medina is the founder of Maven Family Law, APC in Oakland, California. She has more than 25 years of experience practicing family law in California, with a focus on litigation and mediation. Fernandez-Medina represents individuals and families in divorce, child custody, spousal support, parentage, annulments, marital agreements, relocations, and LGBTQ+ family law matters. She emphasizes strategic resolution while providing personalized guidance through complex financial and family-related disputes.

Fernandez-Medina earned her J.D. from Ohio State University in 2001. She received B.A. degrees in Economics and Spanish, both summa cum laude, from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1997 and also completed an intensive language program at Universidad de Salamanca. She is admitted to practice in California and Massachusetts. Her academic background and continued negotiation training support a practice that requires detailed financial analysis, advocacy, communication, and careful evaluation of family law disputes.

Fernandez-Medina handles high-asset family law matters involving business valuations, real estate portfolios, equity compensation plans, and complex financial tracing. She has also represented clients in International Hague Convention custody cases involving the wrongful international removal of children, which can require coordination with foreign counsel and courts. Kelli Fernandez-Medina is active in several professional organizations, including the American Bar Association Family Law Section and the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts. She previously served on the Alameda County Family Law Association board and volunteers with the Alameda County Superior Court’s Short Cause Settlement Conference program. In 2025, she completed Harvard University’s Program on Negotiation, further supporting her work in mediation, settlement discussions, and strategic family law advocacy.
