About

Kelley F. Young is a partner at Young & Young, Attorneys at Law, with a background as both a prosecutor and a judge. A Lowcountry native, she has dedicated her career to protecting the rights of individuals in her community. She began her career at the Ninth Circuit Solicitor’s Office, where she handled a wide range of criminal cases, eventually focusing on violent crimes and large narcotics prosecutions that required extensive trial preparation and advocacy.

Ms. Young earned her B.A., cum laude, in Business Management from the University of Georgia before earning her J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law. During law school, she gained valuable experience clerking for the U.S. Attorney’s Office and two criminal court judges, and argued cases as a Certified Legal Intern with the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement Division. She was admitted to the South Carolina Bar in 2011.

Following her service as a prosecutor, Ms. Young was appointed by the Governor of South Carolina to serve as a Magistrate Judge for Charleston County. In that role, she presided over bond hearings, preliminary hearings, traffic matters, and eviction cases. This unique perspective gave her in-depth knowledge of judicial decision-making and strengthened her ability to analyze weaknesses in criminal cases, negotiate effectively, and craft strong defense strategies on behalf of her clients.

Kelley F. Young applies her diverse courtroom experience to both criminal defense and personal injury cases. She also prosecutes cases for the City of Folly Beach, further sharpening her trial skills and insight into prosecution strategy. Recognized as a Super Lawyers Rising Star, she is active in professional associations and community organizations, continuing her commitment to advocacy and justice for the people of Charleston and beyond.
