About
Katie A. Elsner is a Kenai attorney with Ehrhardt, Elsner & Cooley whose current work focuses on personal injury and civil litigation. She represents injured people in cases involving vehicle accidents, unsafe property conditions, and other negligence claims. Her areas of focus include wrongful death and premises liability. She brings extensive trial experience from earlier criminal defense and civil matters to disputes involving medical injuries, responsibility for an accident, and financial compensation.
Katie completed her undergraduate studies at New York University in 2004, graduating cum laude. She then earned her law degree from Northwestern University School of Law, also graduating cum laude. During law school, she worked on significant cases and developed a client-centered approach to representation. Her academic training prepared her for contested litigation, while her early career provided regular experience interviewing clients, examining evidence, and making courtroom arguments.
Katie began practicing at the Miami-Dade Public Defender’s Office, representing adults and juveniles accused of crimes from misdemeanors to serious felonies. She later worked with Alaska Legal Services and as a contract attorney in Kenai, handling civil issues involving divorce, custody, probate, and protective proceedings. Her experience includes thousands of cases, hundreds of depositions, and numerous jury and nonjury trials. In one Florida murder case, she obtained a dismissal after establishing self-defense.
Katie A. Elsner now applies that litigation background to personal injury claims for Alaskans. She has experience reviewing technical and forensic evidence, preparing witnesses, negotiating case resolutions, and presenting arguments in court. Her work with clients in both criminal and civil systems has involved serious personal consequences and challenging factual disputes. She focuses on helping injured clients pursue compensation while understanding the choices that arise throughout litigation.
