About

Kathryn Yates focuses her practice on family law, helping clients resolve divorce, custody, and support matters with a practical and respectful approach. She works to reduce conflict and guide families toward solutions that fit their needs. Her practice emphasizes collaboration, but she also represents clients in litigation when disputes require court action. Kathryn is known for building strong professional relationships and helping clients navigate difficult transitions with clarity and steady judgment.

Kathryn earned her J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law and her B.A. in Modern Languages and Literature from the College of the Holy Cross. Her education supports strong communication, thoughtful legal analysis, and careful client counseling. She also brings additional training and credentials as a Certified Mediator, Conciliator, and Guardian ad Litem.

In her legal career, Kathryn has handled divorce matters involving complex finances, contested custody disputes, and other high-conflict family issues. Before practicing in North Carolina, she worked in Massachusetts family law for nearly seven years. Her earlier experience also included internships focused on child welfare and special education, as well as participation in an asylum and human rights clinic. This broad background gives her a thoughtful and well-rounded perspective on client advocacy.

Kathryn Yates is licensed in New York, Massachusetts, and North Carolina.
