Katherine T. (Katie) Cowart is an attorney and shareholder with more than 15 years of experience handling complex business litigation. She advises business owners, executives, partners, and shareholders in contract disputes, labor and employment matters, non-compete cases, trade secret claims, shareholder disputes, acquisitions, dissolutions, and every stage of litigation. Her practice also includes guiding medical service providers and individual practitioners through federal and state health care compliance requirements.

Katie earned her J.D. from South Texas College of Law and a B.S. in Criminal Justice from Bluefield College. Her legal education and criminal justice background developed a strong foundation in legal analysis, advocacy, and procedural strategy. This training supports her ability to assess complicated facts, identify practical options, and guide clients through disputes, regulatory issues, and litigation with careful preparation and sound judgment.

Katie’s representative experience includes securing a settlement for an integrated electronic prescribing provider in federal patent infringement litigation. She has also represented a public utility district in a successful Fifth Circuit appeal involving claims under the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Fair Housing Act, and related laws. Her work further includes representing a freestanding emergency clinic in litigation with a private insurer and defending a water utility district in ADA litigation at both trial and appellate levels.

(Katie) Cowart is admitted to practice in Texas and Oklahoma, as well as before the Northern, Southern, and Eastern Districts of Texas, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court.
