Karen Winston is a dedicated immigration attorney committed to helping individuals and families navigate the complexities of the U.S. immigration system.

She is the owner and president of The Law Office of Karen Winston, LLC, where her practice focuses exclusively on immigration law, including spouse and fiancé visas, asylum, removal defense, and humanitarian relief. Her client-centered approach ensures comprehensive legal support through every step of the process.

Karen received her undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder and earned her Juris Doctor from Florida Coastal School of Law. In 2010, she was awarded the prestigious Equal Justice Works Fellowship, sponsored by the Florida Bar and Foundation. Through this fellowship, she founded the Baker Defense Project, which provided “Know Your Rights” presentations and free legal representation to detained foreign nationals facing deportation.

With over a decade of experience, Karen represents clients before U.S. Immigration Courts, the Board of Immigration Appeals, Federal Courts, and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). She emphasizes frequent communication and thorough preparation to achieve the best possible outcomes for her clients.

In partnership with Jacksonville Area Legal Aid (JALA), Karen remains dedicated to underserved immigrant populations, providing pro bono representation to crime victims, asylum seekers, and survivors of domestic violence and trafficking.

Karen’s exceptional contributions to immigration law have earned her recognition, including the 2016 Pro Bono Champion award from the Central Florida Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). She is the AILA Central Florida Chapter Chair liaison to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO). Licensed by the Supreme Court of Florida, she is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
