Karen H. Charrington

Karen H. Charrington is the managing attorney of The Charrington Firm, P.C. and a New York trial lawyer with experience as a prosecutor, defense counsel, and adjudicator. Her practice includes state and federal criminal defense, divorce and family law, civil litigation, and disputes involving religious and nonprofit organizations. She represents clients in serious matters that can involve criminal investigations, high-asset divorce, spousal support, trust disputes, commercial issues, and contested civil proceedings.

Charrington earned a J.D. from the City University of New York School of Law and a B.A. from Hunter College of the City University of New York. Her legal education supported the courtroom-focused career that followed, including prosecution, private litigation, and administrative adjudication. That training remains central to her work evaluating evidence, preparing witnesses, developing trial strategy, analyzing procedural issues, and presenting complex factual records in state, federal, matrimonial, civil, and administrative proceedings.

Charrington began her legal career in the Bronx County District Attorney’s Office, where she advanced from trial attorney to Major Case Assistant. She later led the civil litigation department at a Westchester County boutique firm before founding The Charrington Firm in 2005. Her practice has included high-asset family matters, trust disputes, fine art and alternative-asset issues, major criminal defense, and complex civil cases. She has also served as an Impartial Hearing Officer and Administrative Law Judge.

Karen H. Charrington has appeared as a legal analyst on national television networks and has received professional recognition including Super Lawyers in 2026 and a Top 40 Trial Attorneys Under 40 honor from the National Trial Lawyers Association. She also mentors developing lawyers through mock trial programs.
