Blankenship earned his J.D. from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 2002 and his B.A. from the University of Southern Indiana in 1998, where he studied English and Communications. He earned Dean’s List honors at both schools. He completed law school in just over two years while also working as a law clerk. This combination of academic study and practical experience helped prepare him for courtroom advocacy and the careful evaluation of criminal cases.
Before entering criminal defense, Blankenship spent 17 years as a prosecutor. He began as a deputy prosecutor in Hamilton County, later joined the Major Felony Division in Marion County, and became Major Felony Supervisor. He subsequently served as Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for Blackford County. During his prosecutorial career, he handled well over 100 court and jury trials involving matters such as robbery, burglary, sex crimes, fraud, and homicide.
Eric Blankenship founded his firm to represent people accused of crimes after years of working on the prosecution side of criminal cases. That background informs his approach to reviewing evidence, preparing for trial, and addressing the charges clients face. His work also includes Fraud Defense, Gun Crimes, White Collar Crimes, and College Student Defense. He emphasizes listening to clients, explaining their legal options, and helping them navigate proceedings that can affect their freedom, employment, and families.
