Karamat Qayum

Karamat Qayum is a dedicated Miami lawyer focusing his practice on immigration and personal injury law. He is passionate about representing immigrants and individuals harmed by the negligence of others. Having once been undocumented himself, he understands firsthand the struggles his clients face and advocates with empathy, skill, and determination.

Karamat’s academic achievements highlight his commitment to the law. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Florida International University, graduating cum laude. He then attended Florida International University College of Law, where he strengthened his legal skills through clinical and experiential learning opportunities. His education gave him a strong foundation in both advocacy and community service.

During law school, Karamat participated in the Immigrant Children’s Justice Clinic, representing minors in removal proceedings, and the Community Development Clinic, advising small businesses and nonprofits. He also gained valuable experience as a judicial intern for Judge Stacy D. Glick and as a judicial officer with the U.S. Department of Justice’s Executive Office for Immigration Review, where he drafted legal decisions for immigration judges.

After working at a respected immigration law firm in Coral Gables, Karamat co-founded Garcia & Qayum Law Group, P.A., where he continues to advocate for clients in immigration and personal injury cases. His leadership extends to the broader legal community, as evidenced by his past presidency of the Colombian American Bar Association (COLBAR) and his current role as a board member of the Miami-Dade Hispanic Affairs Advisory Board.

Recognized for his professional excellence, Karamat Qayum has been named to Florida Super Lawyers Rising Stars from 2019 through 2024, a distinction earned by only 2.5% of lawyers statewide.
