Joshua M. Frieser is the Principal Attorney at Frieser Legal, a boutique sports law practice in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He represents college and professional athletes, sports agents and agencies, sports industry businesses, and corporate sponsors. His practice focuses on sports law, NIL matters, athletics regulatory proceedings, licensing, intellectual property, business structuring, and regulatory compliance. Josh also serves as outside counsel to sports organizations and businesses navigating contracts, sponsorships, and other legal issues connected to the sports industry.

Josh earned his J.D. from Marquette University Law School in 2021 and a B.S. in Kinesiology, with Distinction, from Indiana University Bloomington in 2018. His legal education, combined with his academic background in kinesiology, supports an understanding of both the business and operational sides of athletics. Before entering private practice, he gained experience with the NCAA’s Office of the Committees on Infractions, the National Sports Law Institute, and judicial internships in federal appellate and district courts.

Josh advises athletes on NIL agreements, eligibility and disciplinary matters, licensing arrangements, intellectual property concerns, and related business planning. He also counsels sports agents, agencies, corporate sponsors, and sports ventures on contracts, compliance, and commercial relationships. Joshua M. Frieser serves on the American Arbitration Association’s Sports Advisory Committee and is a member of the Sports Lawyers Association and the State Bar of Wisconsin’s Sports & Entertainment Law Section. He frequently speaks on NIL, athlete representation, sponsorship agreements, intellectual property, taxation, and legal developments affecting sports.
