Joshua Kaizuka is a Sacramento criminal defense lawyer with more than 25 years of experience representing adults and juveniles. His practice includes DUI, domestic violence, assault, drug offenses, theft, and serious felony strike cases. He has particular experience with criminal matters involving mental health and psychological issues. His work covers every stage of a case, including negotiations, hearings, and jury trials.

Kaizuka earned his J.D. from the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law with a concentration in Advocacy. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Government from California State University, Sacramento. During law school, he earned membership in The Order of Barristers and The Traynor Society. His academic training provided a strong foundation in courtroom advocacy, legal analysis, and criminal defense strategy.

Kaizuka began his legal career as a Deputy Public Defender in Yolo County. He later spent several years practicing civil rights law before returning to private criminal defense. Throughout his career, he has represented thousands of clients in adult and juvenile proceedings. His experience ranges from minor offenses to serious felonies and includes substantial jury trial work. His background gives him insight into constitutional rights, government investigations, and alternatives to incarceration.

Joshua Kaizuka is admitted to practice in California and before the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Northern Districts of California. He serves on boards connected with the Asian/Pacific Bar Association of Sacramento and its Law Foundation. His professional involvement includes criminal defense, DUI, and Asian Pacific American bar organizations. He contributes pro bono service, mentors law students, judges advocacy competitions, and supports First Amendment matters.
