Joshua A. Sussberg, P.C., is a prominent partner in the Restructuring Practice Group at Kirkland & Ellis LLP and serves on the firm’s Executive Committee. Josh earned his J.D., cum laude, from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 2003, where he served as Symposia Editor for the Cardozo Law Review and was elected to the Order of the Coif. He received his B.S., magna cum laude, from Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications in 2000. He is admitted to practice in New York and in multiple U.S. courts, including appellate and bankruptcy jurisdictions.

With experience spanning major corporate bankruptcies and liability management transactions, Josh has represented debtors, creditors, and sponsors in transformative restructurings. His notable engagements include Rite Aid Corporation, JOANN Inc., Bed Bath & Beyond, and Envision Healthcare, where he secured multi-billion-dollar debt reductions and structured innovative debtor-in-possession financings.

Josh has been named a “Dealmaker of the Year” by The American Lawyer, included in Forbes’ Top 200 Lawyers in America, and consistently ranked Band 1 by Chambers USA and Chambers Global. He is frequently recognized for his creativity, commercial focus, and leadership in high-stakes negotiations.
