Joseph J. Rhoades

Joseph J. Rhoades is the founding partner of Rhoades & Morrow Attorneys at Law, a Delaware law firm focused on personal injury law and workers’ compensation claims. Since establishing the firm in 1990, he has represented individuals harmed in car accidents, by unsafe property conditions, and in workplace incidents. His work centers on helping injured people recover compensation for medical costs, lost wages, and other damages. Through careful preparation and strong advocacy, he guides clients through complex legal processes and works to secure results.

Mr. Rhoades earned his J.D., Magna Cum Laude, from Widener University School of Law in 1981. He also holds a B.A.A.S. from the University of Delaware, completed in 1976. After graduating from law school, he served as a law clerk to Hon. Henry R. Horsey at the Delaware Supreme Court from 1981 to 1982. This early experience at the state’s highest court helped him develop a strong understanding of legal research, writing, and courtroom procedure for trial practice skills.

Mr. Rhoades, admitted to the Delaware Bar in 1981 and U.S. Federal Courts in 1982, has built a long career advocating for injured clients. His practice focuses on motor vehicle accidents, unsafe premises, and workplace injuries. He prepares cases carefully and works to hold negligent parties accountable. His work has earned recognition, including selection to Super Lawyers, designation as a Top Lawyer in Personal Injury by Delaware Today multiple years, and service awards from respected legal organizations statewide.

Joseph J. Rhoades has also contributed to the legal community and public service for more than three decades. He has served as a Guardian ad Litem in Delaware Family Court, advocating for foster children and protecting their interests. He has also worked with organizations focused on child welfare and safety. Through leadership roles in legal associations and state panels, he continues to support improvements in workplace safety, civil rules, and workers’ compensation oversight while promoting fair and effective legal systems.
