Joseph Brugnoli

Joseph Brugnoli brings a defense-focused background shaped by military service, police work, and criminal law practice. His career has centered on protecting people facing serious legal problems. Joseph received his Bachelor’s in criminal justice from Michigan State University in 2002. He later earned his Juris Doctor from Thomas M. Cooley Law School. During law school, he interned for the Macomb County Prosecutors’ Office, gaining early exposure to criminal cases and the work involved in criminal prosecution.

Joseph began serving others before becoming an attorney. He joined the Army after high school and served in the 75th Ranger Regiment. He spent two years deployed in Iraq for combat operations and earned his Combat Infantryman’s Badge. He is also a graduate of the Army Ranger School program as well.

Joseph later spent just under 11 years in law enforcement, where he handled demanding public safety work. His experience included uniform and plain clothes operations, service as an Entry Operator and Sniper for the Southeast Oakland SWAT Team, and work as a Firearms Instructor in difficult assignments, investigations, and training.

Joseph uses that background to review criminal cases from a practical and detailed point of view. Because he has witnessed and investigated many types of cases, he understands how police reports, evidence, witness statements, and procedures can affect a defense. This helps him identify weaknesses in investigations or prosecution arguments.

Joseph has practiced criminal law both solo and as part of a larger practice. His work focuses on clear communication, honest guidance, and careful preparation. He aims to explain the legal process in a way clients can follow, while also building strategies based on the facts and risks involved clearly.
