Denise A. Hirschmann

Denise A. Hirschmann helps people move through stressful legal problems with clear guidance and firm advocacy. With more than 25 years of experience, she represents clients in family law and criminal defense matters across Macomb County and nearby communities, working to protect their rights and make their voices heard during difficult times.

Denise completed undergraduate studies in pre-law and psychology at Michigan State University. She later earned her Juris Doctor from Detroit College of Law, building the legal foundation for her work in family and criminal court matters. Her education supports her practical understanding of both the legal process and human behavior in court.

Denise handles many family law matters, including divorce, child custody and parenting time, child support, Child Protective Services (CPS) issues, friend of the court concerns, post-judgment modifications and enforcement, domicile changes, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, guardianship issues, and adoption, including stepparent adoption cases for families.

Denise also assists clients with criminal defense concerns such as OWI/DUI defense, traffic violations, juvenile offenses, and minor in possession (MIP) matters. Her background in substance abuse counseling gives her added insight when clients face cases involving personal challenges, court supervision, or difficult decisions about their future and their families.

Denise has worked in several parts of the legal system, including roles as a probation officer, city attorney, defense attorney, Magistrate, and Court Administrator. This broad experience helps her understand how courts operate, how cases move forward, and how to guide clients through each stage with careful preparation and focus.

Denise is a current member of the Michigan Bar Association, American Bar Association, and the Macomb County Bar Association. She is also on the Michigan State University College of Law Alumni Association Board and previously served with the Women Lawyers Association of Macomb County and the Optimist Club in past community roles.
