Joseph A. Scrofano

Joseph A. Scrofano is a Washington, DC criminal defense attorney at Scrofano Law, PC, who represents clients in serious criminal, assault & battery, and DUI matters. He has litigated more than 1,000 cases in DC courts and administrative agencies. His practice includes work in DC Superior Court, the Federal District Court for the District of Columbia, the DC Court of Appeals, and the US Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit in contested cases and appeals overall.

Mr. Scrofano earned his J.D. from American University’s Washington College of Law and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin. He also holds a master’s degree in International Relations from American University’s School of International Service. Before entering private practice, he clerked for the Honorable Natalia Combs Greene in DC Superior Court, gaining insight into trial work, judicial decision-making, and criminal and civil litigation from the bench early in practice.

Mr. Scrofano has defense work that includes DUI, assault, drug crimes, federal offenses, felony defense, gun charges, sex crimes, traffic offenses, white collar matters, and other criminal allegations. He has completed training through the Trial Lawyers College and advanced advocacy programs. He also holds National Highway Traffic Safety Administration training in Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, the same testing system officers use in DUI arrests during investigations and stops involving field evidence and testimony.
