Gretchen Taylor Pousson

Gretchen Taylor Pousson is a Virginia criminal defense attorney at Scrofano Law, PC,  with more than 25 years of trial experience. She has handled cases involving DUI, theft, homicide, federal charges, protective orders, assault & battery, expungements, firearm rights restoration, traffic offenses, and juvenile defense. Her background includes work on both sides of criminal cases, giving her practical insight into investigations, prosecution strategy, plea discussions, trial preparation, and the pressure clients face after an arrest or charge.

Gretchen earned her J.D. from the College of William and Mary in 1995. She also earned her B.A. in Communication Studies from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1992. After law school, she began her career as an Assistant Public Defender in Roanoke, where she handled serious criminal matters early in practice, including her first murder case within months of passing the Virginia bar while learning courtroom practice quickly.

Gretchen later served as a prosecutor in Newport News for five years, building valuable knowledge of how criminal cases are charged, prepared, negotiated, and tried. She also taught as an Adjunct Professor of Law at William & Mary. In 2002, she became an Assistant Federal Public Defender in the Eastern District of Virginia, representing people accused in complex federal criminal cases for seven years with focused courtroom advocacy and careful judgment.

Gretchen Taylor Pousson now represents defendants throughout Northern Virginia in state and federal courts. She leads Virginia criminal defense work from the Fairfax office and brings strong attention to juvenile cases, DUI charges, protective orders, expungements, firearm rights petitions, and serious criminal allegations.
