About
Joseph A. McClusky is a Tennessee criminal defense attorney who has practiced in this field since shortly after graduating from law school in 2008. Admitted to the Tennessee bar that same year, he represents people facing serious criminal allegations and related legal proceedings. His work spans cases at different stages, from initial charges and trial preparation to appeals, post-conviction petitions, and probation violation matters.
Joseph earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Memphis in 2005. He went on to receive his Juris Doctor from the University of Memphis School of Law in 2008. His legal education gave him a foundation in research, analysis, advocacy, and courtroom procedure. That training continues to support his ability to examine complex criminal cases, identify important issues, and prepare focused defense strategies for his clients.
Joe handles a broad range of criminal defense matters, including drug crimes, DUI charges, gun offenses, sex crimes, violent crimes, and white collar offenses. His experience also covers aggravated robbery, murder and homicide allegations, fraud, embezzlement, forgery, and identity theft. In addition to trial-level defense, he assists clients with criminal appeals and petitions for post-conviction relief, providing representation when the outcome may affect a client’s freedom and future.
Joseph A. McClusky is a member of the Tennessee Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and has attended the Tennessee Criminal Defense College multiple times. In 2014, he received the Massey McGee Trial Advocacy Award, which recognized his willingness to assess his advocacy, learn new trial methods, and apply those skills in court. He returned to the college as an associate instructor in 2015, reflecting an ongoing commitment to trial advocacy and professional development.
