Joseph A. Foster

Joseph A. Foster is a seasoned attorney specializing in bankruptcy, restructuring, and complex commercial finance. As chair of his firm’s Bankruptcy Practice Group, Mr. Foster represents various clients, from small private lenders to nationally recognized financial institutions, in matters such as out-of-court restructurings and Chapter 11 reorganizations.

His extensive experience spans advising businesses and individuals on all aspects of insolvency, including prosecuting and defending bankruptcy litigation, guiding asset buyers, and assisting financially troubled businesses with loan restructuring and workouts.

His public service further distinguishes Mr. Foster’s legal career. In 2013, he was appointed New Hampshire Attorney General by Governor Maggie Hassan. In this role, he led the New Hampshire Department of Justice, overseeing representation for more than 120 state entities in contract disputes, environmental laws, election laws, consumer protection, and criminal justice matters. This role provided him with unparalleled experience in state government operations, which he now applies in counseling businesses and individuals on matters involving state agencies and regulations.

A graduate of The George Washington University Law School (J.D.) and Tufts University (B.A.), Mr. Foster is a nationally recognized bankruptcy and insolvency attorney.
