Jonathan Willmoth

Jonathan Willmoth is the founder and lead attorney at Willmoth Immigration Law, LLC in Kansas City, Missouri. Practicing exclusively in immigration law since 2002, he represents individuals, families, and businesses across the U.S. in removal defense, employment visas, waivers, and complex immigration litigation.

Jonathan earned both his B.A. in German and J.D. from the University of Missouri–Kansas City. He also studied abroad at Universität Klagenfurt in Austria and Peking University Law School in Beijing. He is admitted to practice in Missouri and Pennsylvania and remains an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA).

With over two decades of experience, Jonathan has litigated cases before Immigration Courts, the Board of Immigration Appeals, U.S. District Courts, and Circuit Courts. He regularly handles J-1 waivers, asylum claims, mandamus actions, and high-stakes visa denials, achieving successful outcomes through strategy and persistence.

An esteemed speaker, Jonathan has presented at numerous AILA national and regional conferences and served as Chair of the 2022 AILA Midwinter Conference. He is a former Chair of AILA’s Missouri-Kansas Chapter and has served on AILA’s national liaison and scholars committees.

Jonathan has also taught Immigration Law as an adjunct professor at the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Law. He is widely published in national immigration law handbooks and legal journals. His work includes co-authoring chapters for AILA’s Immigration Practice Pointers and Guide to U.S. Citizenship & Naturalization Law.
