John Tarkowsky

John Tarkowsky is the Managing Shareholder of the Mansfield office at Tarkowsky & Associates, where he focuses his legal practice on workers’ compensation, employment and labor law, insurance defense, and civil litigation. With decades of experience, he is recognized for his strategic counsel and skilled trial advocacy.

John earned his Juris Doctor in 1978 from Ohio Northern University’s Claude W. Pettit College of Law after completing his B.A. from Baldwin-Wallace College in 1975. He was admitted to the Ohio Bar in 1978 and to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio and the U.S. Tax Court in 1980.

A Certified Workers’ Compensation Specialist, John represents employers in complex claims and disputes involving workplace injuries. He also advises clients on employment law compliance and defends against wrongful termination, discrimination, and other employment-related claims.

John has served as Special Counsel to the Ohio Attorney General’s Office and frequently leads seminars for employer groups and the Ohio State Bar Association. His experience spans both State and Federal Courts, where he handles intricate litigation and insurance matters with a results-driven approach.

John has received the Ohio Super Lawyer designation in multiple years, reflecting his reputation among peers and clients alike for legal excellence and professionalism. He remains a respected member of the Richland County, Ohio, State, and American Bar Associations.
