John R. Jacobson

John R. Jacobson is a co-founder of Riley & Jacobson, PLC and an experienced Nashville trial lawyer and business counselor. He represents businesses, executives, and individuals in high-stakes commercial lawsuits and disputes. He has tried dozens of civil jury cases in federal and state courts and has handled appeals, including matters before the Tennessee Supreme Court. His clients range from Fortune 500 companies to recording artists and small-business owners.

John earned his B.A., with honors, from the University of Mississippi. He later received his J.D., with high honors, from the University of Tennessee. During law school, he was a member of the Order of the Coif and the Tennessee Law Review. He was admitted to the Tennessee Bar in 1990 and has built a litigation practice involving complex business and regulatory disputes.

John represents clients in healthcare, financial services, entertainment, and other industries. His practice includes class action defense, multidistrict litigation, business divorces, restrictive covenant disputes, and trade secret cases. He also advises clients on internal investigations and sensitive business problems in heavily regulated industries. He frequently works with executives and business owners to develop practical solutions that can resolve disputes without litigation when possible.
