John P. Cannon

John P. Cannon is an experienced criminal defense lawyer and Founder of Cannon & Associates, PLLC, a law firm serving clients across Oklahoma in criminal defense, family law, and personal injury matters. He is widely recognized for his strategic approach, strong courtroom skills, and commitment to clear, honest communication. John earned his B.A. in English Literature from the University of Kansas. He later received his J.D. from Oklahoma City University College of Law. During his legal education, he clerked for the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals and completed a clerkship in Washington, D.C. for the United States Senate. These academic and clerkship experiences strengthened his foundation in legal research, writing, and appellate law.

John began his legal career in litigation through national trial competitions and advanced advocacy programs. He went on to serve as an Assistant District Attorney in Canadian and Garfield Counties, where he tried multiple cases and gained extensive courtroom experience. He later worked as an Assistant Public Defender in Oklahoma County, handling a felony docket and representing clients in jury trials and appeals before the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals.

John P. Cannon further expanded his experience as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Oklahoma, representing the state in both state and federal courts, including the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. He later founded Cannon & Associates, PLLC, to focus on defense-oriented representation. Through his work, John has helped clients navigate criminal charges, family law disputes, and injury claims with informed guidance and assertive advocacy.
