John M. Bouslog

John M. Bouslog has built a distinguished legal career spanning more than 25 years, focusing his practice on guiding businesses through complex transactions and financial challenges. Known for his skill as a negotiator and business advisor, he regularly counsels clients through acquisitions, sales, mergers, and other significant corporate dealings at both local and national levels.

John began his academic journey at Western Illinois University, where he earned a Bachelor’s of Business with Honors in 1980. He continued his studies at Drake University, obtaining both his M.B.A. and J.D. in 1985. His combined legal and business education provides clients with a unique perspective that blends technical financial insight with practical legal strategies.

John’s professional background includes serving as general counsel for both a Des Moines-based bank and a Des Moines-based insurance company. In these roles, he oversaw regulatory compliance and was instrumental in completing a merger between two life insurance companies. He also assists lenders with loan workouts, foreclosures, and deed-in-lieu-of foreclosure transactions, offering clear solutions during financially difficult times.

John has been recognized with the AV® Preeminent Peer Review Rating by Martindale-Hubbell, reflecting his professional excellence and integrity in practice. He has been an active member of the legal community since 1985, participating in the Polk County Bar Association, the Iowa State Bar Association, and the American Bar Association.
