John Luther

John Luther is an accomplished intellectual property lawyer with more than four decades of experience in complex IP litigation. His practice includes patent, trademark, trade secret, and copyright disputes, as well as appeals before the 9th, 7th, and Federal Circuit Courts of Appeal. As a licensed U.S. Patent Attorney, he has led major litigation matters nationwide and handled hundreds of patent applications from drafting through issuance across multiple jurisdictions.

John’s academic background includes a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Massachusetts Boston, an M.S. in Synthetic Organic Chemistry from Boston College, and a J.D. from the University of Oklahoma College of Law.

Throughout his career, John has represented clients before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, handling opposition and cancellation proceedings with precision. His work also includes licensing and cross-border transactions, advising multinational companies on technology agreements and patent licensing. He is admitted before the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of International Trade, the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, multiple federal district courts, and several federal appellate courts.

John Luther has managed significant IP cases involving major companies and public entities. His recent work includes the successful defense of Beretta USA in a patent dispute and the defense of the Canadian Parks Commission in a trademark and publicity matter. He also served as a principal attorney on several patent infringement actions involving addiction-treatment technology. John’s depth of experience continues to guide clients through demanding intellectual property challenges with clarity and skill.
