John J. Tiemessen is a senior-level attorney with a long-standing focus on defending professional malpractice and occupational licensing cases. He has successfully tried more than a dozen complex jury trials involving severe personal injury and wrongful death, often with claims exceeding $1 million in damages.
John holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Arizona State University, graduating magna cum laude in 1987. He earned his Juris Doctor from Willamette University College of Law in 1991, graduating cum laude. While in law school, he served on the Moot Court Board and competed with the Western Regional Mock Trial Team.
John has represented clients in a wide range of significant civil matters. His litigation experience includes notable cases such as Doan v. Banner Health, Inc. and Hymes v. DeRamus. His practice spans civil disputes, high-stakes jury trials, and disciplinary actions tied to professional licenses.
John has shared his legal insight at seminars and educational forums, including events hosted by CNA Insurance Companies, the University of Alaska, the Alaska Bar Association, and several medical and dental societies. His lectures often cover risk management, trial strategies, and professional ethics.
In addition to his courtroom work, John contributes to the legal field through published legal scholarship, including his article in the Alaska Law Review.
