John Gomez

John Gomez is the Founder and CEO of Gomez Trial Attorneys, widely regarded as one of the nation’s premier trial lawyers. A San Diego native, he has built a career defined by exceptional courtroom victories, community leadership, and an unwavering commitment to justice for injured individuals and their families.

John earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of San Diego, where he was an Academic All-American football player. He later earned his Juris Doctor from Yale Law School, consistently ranked among the nation’s top law programs. Following law school, he clerked for a federal judge and practiced at Latham & Watkins, representing major corporations in billion-dollar cases.

Driven by his passion for advocacy, John returned to San Diego as a federal prosecutor with the U.S. Attorney’s Office, successfully trying and winning twenty consecutive jury trials. He later founded Gomez Trial Attorneys, where he achieved landmark verdicts, including $106 million and $16.2 million awards, setting a standard for excellence in trial advocacy.

Over his distinguished career, John has been recognized twice as Consumer Attorneys of San Diego Trial Lawyer of the Year and eleven times as an Outstanding Trial Lawyer. He has been named Lawyer of the Year by Lawyers USA and ranked the Number 1 San Diego Attorney by Super Lawyers. He also serves as an ABOTA member and past president of the San Diego Inn of Court.
