About
John E. Nale, Esq., is an attorney at Elder Law Offices of John and Mark Nale, who has focused much of his career on helping older adults and families address important legal needs. After beginning his professional path in criminal defense, he recognized a growing need for guidance involving long-term care, estate matters, and public benefits. He shifted his practice toward elder law and spent decades assisting clients with estate planning law, decision-making, and future protection. His work emphasizes practical solutions, clear communication, thoughtful guidance, and respect for each client’s individual goals.
John earned a B.S. in Economics from the University of Maine at Orono and later received a J.D. from the University of New Hampshire School of Law. These academic experiences provided a strong foundation in analytical thinking, problem-solving, and legal reasoning. His education prepared him to understand complex regulations, evaluate planning options, and explain legal concepts in a straightforward manner. He applies that knowledge when helping clients understand rights, responsibilities, available strategies, and long-term planning considerations for their futures.
John has concentrated exclusively on elder law, assisting clients with estate planning, advance directives, retirement planning, long-term care planning, and MaineCare/Medicaid matters for more than two decades. He works to reduce uncertainty by helping individuals prepare for future healthcare and financial decisions. Through careful planning, he helps clients protect interests, preserve available resources, and create legal arrangements that support personal objectives. His approach focuses on understanding circumstances, identifying options, addressing concerns, and developing plans tailored to each client’s specific situation.
John E. Nale is also known for sharing knowledge with professional and community groups through presentations on elder law, estate planning, advance directives, long-term care planning, and MaineCare/Medicaid topics. His commitment to service has earned recognition, including the Katahdin Counsel Award for pro bono work supporting Maine’s elderly residents and recognition as an Outstanding Professional from the Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce. Through education, advocacy, and legal guidance, he continues helping people make informed decisions, navigate complex issues, and plan with confidence.
