He received his B.A. in Political Science, summa cum laude, from California State University, Channel Islands. During law school, he was inducted into the Order of Barristers for excellence in oral advocacy and legal writing. He also served as a Note and Comment Editor for the Arizona State Law Journal and worked as a teaching assistant for a first-year legal writing course.
Early in his legal career, John gained valuable experience through judicial clerkships and legal internships. He served as a judicial law clerk for Justice James P. Beene of the Arizona Supreme Court and for Judge Susan M. Brnovich of the United States District Court. These clerkships provided him with insight into appellate and federal court procedures and strengthened his legal research, writing, and case analysis skills.
