Joel L. Mumford

Joel L. Mumford is a criminal defense attorney with broad experience handling DUI, traffic, drug, and serious criminal cases. He began his legal career as an Assistant Public Defender in Broward County, Florida, where he gained direct courtroom experience and worked with clients facing difficult charges.

During his time as an Assistant Public Defender, Joel handled more than 1,400 criminal cases. These matters mainly involved DUI, traffic offenses, and drug cases. That early role gave him a strong foundation in criminal defense, case review, plea discussions, trial preparation, and courtroom advocacy.

Joel later became lead trial counsel for The Ticket Clinic in Kissimmee, Florida. In that role, he continued building his defense practice and represented clients in traffic and criminal matters. His work required careful preparation, strong legal judgment, and the ability to respond quickly in court.

After about four years with The Ticket Clinic, Joel received the distinguished honor of being appointed Chief Public Defender in his home county. As Chief Public Defender, he supervised the entire office staff, including all Assistant Public Defenders serving the county.

While serving as Chief Public Defender, Joel handled a wide range of criminal cases, from DUI to murder. This leadership role strengthened his understanding of criminal defense strategy, office management, courtroom practice, and the serious impact criminal charges can have on clients.

After accomplishing his intended goals as Chief Public Defender, Joel returned to The Ticket Clinic as lead trial counsel in the West Palm Beach office. In this position, he continues to use his public defense background, trial experience, and leadership skills to defend clients facing DUI, traffic, drug, and criminal charges.
