About
Joe Suhre is the founder and principal attorney at Suhre & Associates DUI and Criminal Defense Lawyers. With over two decades of experience in criminal defense and five years as a former police officer, Joe brings a unique dual perspective to each case. His deep understanding of both sides of the legal system strengthens his strategic defense for clients facing DUI and criminal charges.
Joe earned his law degree from Cincinnati College of Law after graduating from Xavier University. His legal training is further supported by certifications in standardized field sobriety testing through NHTSA and ARIDE (Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement), qualifications typically held by law enforcement officers. These credentials allow Joe to challenge police procedures with expert precision in court.
Joe’s background as a police officer gives him a critical edge—he knows how officers are trained, how they conduct DUI stops, and where they often make mistakes. Joe uses this insight to identify weak points in the prosecution’s case and build a strong defense strategy focused on results. This tactical advantage has led to hundreds of successful outcomes across courts in Kentucky and Ohio.
Joe Suhre’s work has earned widespread recognition, including multiple “Super Lawyer” honors, a “10.0 Superb” Avvo rating, and the title of Leading Lawyer in DUI/OVI defense by Cincy Business magazine annually since 2006. His client-first philosophy—treating clients the way he would want to be treated—guides the culture at Suhre & Associates.
Under Joe’s leadership, Suhre & Associates has built a reputation for aggressive representation, careful case analysis, and respectful client service. Joe Suhre continues to set the standard for excellence in DUI and criminal defense across Louisville and beyond.
