About
Joe Hampton serves of counsel at Tomlinson McKinstry, P.C., in Oklahoma City. His practice includes complex business litigation, oil and gas matters, mediation, and arbitration. He represents public and private companies, government agencies and boards, and individual clients. He handles jury trials, nonjury trials, and arbitration proceedings, and also assists parties seeking resolution through alternative dispute resolution. His work addresses business disagreements that require both legal and commercial judgment.
Joe earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Management from the University of Oklahoma in 1983. He received his Juris Doctor with honors from the University of Oklahoma in 1986. During law school, he served as chief note editor of the Oklahoma Law Review. His training in business and legal research supports his work with complex litigation and the evaluation of disputed commercial interests.
Joe has served as lead counsel in significant civil trials and arbitration hearings. His alternative dispute resolution work includes mediating multiparty, multimillion-dollar claims and serving as a sole arbitrator, a panel member, and an arbitration panel chair. These roles involve different responsibilities, from advocating for a client to providing a neutral forum for parties to resolve their disagreements. His litigation practice also includes disputes involving oil and gas and other business relationships.
Joe Hampton is admitted in Oklahoma courts, the state’s three federal district courts, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court. He participates in the litigation and alternative dispute resolution sections of the Oklahoma Bar Association and corresponding sections of the American Bar Association. His professional practice combines trial representation, mediation, and arbitration across a range of business and public-sector matters.
