Jess W. Hoeme is a criminal defense attorney with Joseph, Hollander & Craft, recognized for his relentless advocacy in Kansas municipal, state, and federal courts. Jess earned his Bachelor of Arts from Washburn University in 1999 before completing his Juris Doctor at Creighton University School of Law in 2002. He was admitted to the Kansas Bar and the U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas in the same year, marking the beginning of a career that spans prosecution, defense, and professional training.

Before joining Joseph, Hollander & Craft in 2011, Jess served five years as a prosecutor. He served as Mitchell County Attorney for four years, followed by a stint as lead narcotics prosecutor in Shawnee County. During this time, he also taught at the Kansas Narcotics Officers’ Association’s Top Gun school, the Kansas County & District Attorneys Association, and the National Advocacy Center, where he presented on trial advocacy and complex drug litigation.

Since transitioning to defense practice, Jess has used his prosecutorial knowledge to protect the rights of those accused. His accolades include recognition by Best Lawyers as “Lawyer of the Year” for DUI/DWI Defense in Wichita, as well as repeated listings in DUI and general criminal defense categories. He is also a member of the Wichita Bar Association and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
