About
Jerrold W. Engelman is a Miami Beach attorney with a long litigation and business-law background. He has lived and worked in Miami and Miami Beach since 1985 after beginning his career in Connecticut. His private practice grew from earlier experience in commercial and real estate litigation, corporate counseling, contracts, and criminal defense. He represents clients in disputes involving business relationships, real property, contracts, and other matters requiring courtroom or strategic legal advocacy.
Engelman earned a Bachelor of Arts from Hamilton College and a Juris Doctorate from Boston University School of Law, where he served on the Law Review. His academic background prepared him for research-intensive litigation and complex legal writing. He was admitted in Connecticut before moving to Florida and joined The Florida Bar in 1991, bringing prior trial experience into a South Florida practice focused heavily on commercial and real estate disputes.
Engelman tried numerous civil and criminal cases in Connecticut, including business, real property, telecommunications, and serious criminal matters. After moving to Miami, he served as in-house General Counsel for affiliated companies involved in charge-card services, advertising, and publishing. He later worked as corporate counsel for an automobile and finance business. In 1995, he returned to private practice, drawing on these roles to expand his commercial and real estate litigation work.
Jerrold W. Engelman combines trial experience with years of in-house corporate responsibility and private civil practice. His background gives him insight into how disputes affect contracts, real estate, operations, and business decision-making. He approaches litigation with an understanding of the underlying commercial issues and uses that perspective to evaluate risks, develop strategy, negotiate when appropriate, and represent clients in court when a dispute requires formal resolution.
