Jerome L. Withered

Jerome L. Withered has practiced law in Lafayette since 1980, representing clients in personal injury cases, business litigation, and estate planning matters. He serves individuals and small businesses, providing experienced counsel in complex civil disputes and a wide range of trial and appellate matters.

Jerome earned his J.D., summa cum laude, from Indiana University School of Law – Indianapolis in 1980. He also holds a Master of Arts in Economics from the University of Virginia and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Purdue University.

Jerome has tried numerous jury and bench trials involving personal injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice, contract disputes, real estate matters, business conflicts, and estate issues. His appellate experience includes arguments before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit, the Indiana Supreme Court, the Indiana Court of Appeals, and the Indiana Tax Court.

Jerome is a Board-certified Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy since 1995. He is rated AV by Martindale-Hubbell and has been selected for inclusion in Indiana Super Lawyers®. He is also a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates and a Senior Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America.

In addition to litigation, Jerome is a Registered Civil Mediator and has mediated numerous cases over the past 15 years. He has contributed to legal scholarship as a co-author of Civil Trial Practice in West’s Indiana Practice and has published several articles and seminar papers.
