Jeremy S. Scholtes

Jeremy S. Scholtes is a principal at Miles & Stockbridge and co-leads the firm’s Government Contracts Practice Group. He serves as outside general counsel to companies in the construction, information technology, manufacturing, and government contracting sectors. His practice focuses on helping businesses navigate complex regulatory, contractual, and dispute-related matters.

Jeremy earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Military Academy in 2001, where he received the Superintendent’s Award. He later earned his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law in 2008. His education provides a strong foundation for his government contracts and business law practice.

Jeremy advises clients on a broad range of government contracting matters. His experience includes regulatory compliance, Federal Acquisition Regulation requirements, contract drafting and negotiation, bid protests, claims preparation and defense, audits, investigations, public-private partnerships, and small business administration matters. He also assists clients with dispute resolution, mediation, arbitration, and litigation.

Jeremy has received numerous professional honors throughout his career. His recognitions include selection to Best Lawyers in America for Construction Law, the Miles & Stockbridge Pro Bono Advocate Award, the Frederick County DoGood-er Award, and recognition by The Daily Record’s Successful Before 40/VIP List. He also completed the Maryland State Bar Association Leadership Academy Fellowship program.

Jeremy maintains active leadership roles in many professional and community organizations. He serves on the Maryland State Bar Association Board of Governors and participates in numerous legal, business, and civic organizations. He is also a national instructor for the Veteran Institute for Procurement and has provided pro bono legal support to veteran-focused initiatives.

A decorated United States Army veteran, he has received numerous military awards and completed advanced military training programs. His combined legal, military, and business experience allows him to provide practical guidance to government contractors and commercial clients.
